The CEO of PC case maker NZXT has come out with a response after the company was the center of an expose regarding its Flex program. Johnny Hou, the CEO of NZXT, hosted a video where he admitted that the company had βmessed upβ.
The NZXT Flex program has been the subject of much criticism. It allows customers to rent a specific PC build from the company, but business practices around it β and price β have made it the subject of a blasting. NZXT might make some of the best PC case designs around, as you can see in our NZXT H7 Flow review, but its Flex programβs offerings have been hard to defend.
Issues surrounding the NZXT Flex system include pricing and specification. For example, if you pay more than the total cost of the PC, you donβt get to keep the PC and must return it if you stop paying.
Gamers Nexus also pointed out in the original expose (shown in the video below), that NZXT was renting out its 4070 Ti Super PC, Player: Three, without the Super card. This is despite offering it with the Super card when the PC is bought directly without the rental.
While Hou doesnβt outright apologize in the video, NZXT says itβs making some changes. The PC builder says it will now pull βall influencer-led Flex advertisingβ to ensure that those participating arenβt inaccurately advertising the program. The company is also changing the subscriber agreement to make sure βeach aspect is even clearer.β
Despite these changes, as well as others, Gamers Nexus isnβt satisfied. In a post to YouTube, the site said that the companyβs response to the investigation βmisrepresents factsβ and βdistorts the reality of their predatory rental computer program.β
Gamers Nexus has also said that itβs investigating βdeeper elements connected to this storyβ. However, this next investigation could βtake weeks or months to finalize.β
