Logitech has gone against the typical tech world grain and leaned further into its burgeoning repair program. It has announced an expansion to its collaboration with iFixit, a self-repair store that provides guides and tools to assist with repairing tech, to expand its reach for its repair scheme.
The initiative will help users save money and more importantly, assist with βreducing wasteβ, a major issue within the tech sphere. Logitech makes three of the best gaming mice you can use right now, but when they break, it can be a hard pill to swallow, forking over cash to rebuy one.
iFixit has been partnered with Logitech since 2023 but only supported the United States. Now, the service is going to provide repair guides and parts to English, German, French, Spanish, Ditch, Italian, Korean, and Japanese speakers. The service now also supports providing replacement parts and instructions for 20 Logitech devices.
Currently, iFixit and Logitech have provided instructions for repair on the following products:
- All MX Master and MX Anywhere computer mice
- MX Master 3S Mouse
- MX Keyboard
- PRO X Superlight Mouse
- G305 Mouse
- GPRO Mouse
- G502 Hero Mouse
- G915 Keyboard
- GPRO Headset
- GPRO X Headset
- G733 Headset
- Zone Learn
Logitech also states that all parts provided through iFixit will be official, ensuring that self-repairs are using original parts. In the press release, Matt Zieminski, VP of Partnerships at iFixit said, βWeβre thrilled to be in a world where companies like Logitech distinguish themselves by the repairability of their devices.
βThe growing momentum on repairability in the tech industry is spurring companies to design devices with replaceable components and ease of maintenance.β
Right to repair has been a contentious issue for quite some time now. Companies like Apple have begun to solder parts to motherboards or charge exorbitant prices for basic repairs. In the gaming space, repairs often require sending devices back to the manufacturer and even then, you might not end up with it fixed.
However, something is changing at these companies. At CES 2025, Dell showed off its new PCs, which now feature regular components. Dell, and by extension Alienware, are known for their proprietary parts, making it a huge move for upgradability and repairability.
The industry is shifting but at a glacial pace. While not on our list of the best gaming laptops β just yet β the upgradable Framework 13 and 16 laptops are two of the cream of the crop for right-to-repair. The Framework 16 has an upgradeable GPU and mainboard, allowing for the whole device to get a refresh whenever the next parts come out. Back in November, a modular laptop was revealed that also has similar capabilities, but uses an RTX 4060 at its core.
Meanwhile, if youβre after a great gaming mouse that fits within Logitechβs new repair scheme, weβre big fans of the G Pro X Superlight, and itβs currently available for a great price of just $85. Thatβs over $50 cheaper than the Superlight 2 and itβs just about as good.
