This stunning wood gaming PC build is perfect for a minimalist living room

I love Scandinavian interior design, embracing the minimalist vibe with beautiful woods and natural colors. That’s why I’m in love with this DIY Nordic gaming PC build, with its beautifully crafted, custom-made oak case that’s a testament to the skill of its creator, with plenty of space left for upgrades.

This gorgeous Intel-powered gaming rig stands apart from the usual black or white metal boxes you’ll see encasing the best gaming PC builds. The solid oak frame is precision cut, with rounded corners and aluminum mesh side covers for airflow, finishing the build off to look more like a classic 1960s radio than a full-size PC.

This particular PC found our attention via a post on builds.gg and it looks like it’s been a work of constant development since the builder, modfoller, began building it back in 2021. Modfoller began by using the parts from his original metal PC, taking months to slowly build up the case to completion, starting with a single piece of untreated wood.

The Danish builder has taken strong inspiration from the Scandi furniture era of the 1960s and 1970s with this creation, even adding removable wooden table legs to the PC to make it resemble a side table. The case itself has a poppable lid to gain access to the inside, while the front lacks any obvious IO other than the power button – a USB port would spoil the vibe, after all.

The PC itself isn’t a top spec these days, but it’s still a decent rig for 1080p gameplay. There’s an eight-core Intel Core i7 11700K gaming CPU, a Gigabyte-branded Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070, a 1TB Samsung 870 QVO SSD, several Noctua fans, and 8GB of Kingston DDR4 RAM.

Luckily, modfoller has left plenty of room for enhancements in the future. The design of the oak case has enough room to house a full-size ATX motherboard, ensuring that the build can continue to grow and develop over the future. This is a gorgeous gaming PC for a minimalist office, and I’m already thinking about how I can incorporate similar vibes into my next build, perhaps using a wooden case such as the Fractal Design North XL.
